LOOK: The Marine Environmental Protection Command (MEPCOM) conducted the five (5) day Water Safety, Rescue and Survival Techniques (WASAR) Training Class 02-2023 composed of forty-three (43) personnel in collaboration with Special Operations Group NCR-CL and Coast Guard Medical Service NCR-CL at SOF Baywatch Pasig River on 11 to 14 September 2023 and at Cunanan Warf for 2 miles Swim on 15 September 2023.
Additionally, the students underwent comprehensive training that included underwater knot tying, a one-mile swim, and instruction in basic life support, first aid, rescue and life-saving techniques, underwater skills, water entries and exits, as well as boat handling.
This training aimed to enhance their capabilities for performing maritime search and rescue operations, a fundamental responsibility of the Philippine Coast Guard.
