A total of ten (10) sacks of plastic wastes both from the coast and ocean floor were collected by the joint efforts of the Marine Environmental Protection Command personnel, PCG-Special Operations Forces divers and other volunteers from the local community during the SCUBASURERO activity held last 8 June 2022 at Sitio Kayreyna, Lian, Batangas.
CG CAPT FIDELES D SALLIDAO, Director, National Oil Center for Pollution (NOCOP) together with CG LTJG ROLAND E JEOGARTY JR, Commander, MEPFORCE-STL and Mr. John Michael Austria, Municipal Administrator of Lian, Batangas led the clean-up activity. Director, NOCOP also thanked the local community of Lian and all the personnel who took part in the efforts to rehabilitate the state of our ocean. The SCUBASURERO is part of the pre-anniversary activities in celebration of the upcoming 24th Founding Anniversary of MEPCOM.
Through initiatives like these together with the community the Marine Environmental Protection Command execute their function in promoting the mitigation of the effects of plastic pollution in the marine environment.
