The Marine Environmental Protection Command in cooperation with the Biodiversity Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, with the participation of the Coast Guard Medical Auxiliary Squadron, National Ecozone Logisticos Eagles Club and Miss Philippines Air 2021 held a tree planting ceremony last 14 June 2022 at Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, Quezon Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.
CG RADM ROBERT N PATRIMONIO spearheaded the tree planting event which totaled to 30 seedlings of native flowering trees such as Katmon, Molave, Dao, Bagawak-Morado, Banaba, and others planted. Consequently, a Commitment of Support was signed by Commander, MEPCOM, RADM ROBERT N PATRIMONIO; Deputy Commander, MEPCOM, CG COMMO HOSTILLO ARTURO E CORNELIO; Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, Protected Area Superintendent, Melody Alano; and Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, Deputy Protected Area Superintendent, Alan Patricio Q. Tandang, between the Marine Environmental Protection Command and the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center.
After the tree planting, the NAPWC hosted a tour on their park grounds showcasing the different facilities present in the site. The NAPWC is a 23.85-hectare park which is a protected area in the center of Quezon City. The park promotes biodiversity and is currently transforming the park into a botanical garden of Philippine native trees.
