CG RADM ROBERT N PATRIMONIO, Commander, Marine Environmental Protection Command together with CG CAPT FIDELES D SALLIDAO, Director, National Operations Center for Oil Pollution and CG CAPT XERXES PROCESSO N FERNANDEZ, Chief of MEP Staff lead the participants from the Marine Environmental Protection Command during the ARA Regional Tier 3 Response Exercise 2022 last 11-13 October 2022 at Taguig City.

The three (3) day workshop was focused on incident management utilizing the Incident Command System (ICS) processes in the proactive phase, and exercising the expanded Incident Management team (IMT) during a proactive response and the ability of that team to effectively engage the regulator during the response. During the workshop, participants from different organizations conducted a simulation of a Tier 3 oil spill response.

The program was also graced by CG ADM ARTEMIO M ABU, Commandant, Philippine Coast Guard who conveyed his message of appreciation to the organizers, the Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation for conducting events like this that will enhance and capacitate the effectiveness of oil spill response in the country. Participating organizations were composed of different government organizations, stakeholders, and contractors.

The purpose of the exercise was to meet Shell’s Health, Safety, Security, Environment (HSSE) and Social Performance (SP) Control Framework Tier 3 exercise requirement to mobilize the Global Response Support Network (GRSN), to support a Business Incident Management Team, and to partner with key incident management stakeholders.
