22 NOVEMBER 2021 โ€“ Marine Environmental Protection personnel undergo a (10) day training program for International Maritime Organization Model Course which was conducted in National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP), Intramuros, Manila. The said personnel were divided into two groups according to the course taken such as the IMO 3.12: Model Course for Assessors, and IMO 6.09: Model Course for Instructors. The Assessorโ€™s Course Objectives is to provide knowledge and skills for trainees to administer, supervise and monitor training and assessment of seafarersโ€™ competence in accordance with the provisions of Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). IMO Model Course 3.12 provided the basic knowledge on Assessment, Examination, and Certification as well as the implementation of provisions under National Law while the Instructor’s Course objective is for the participants/students to be professionalized and equipped with essential knowledge and teaching proficiency in their subject matter expertise as well as opportunities to demonstrate learning through application. Moreover, IMO 3.12: Model Course for Assessors was composed of two (2) MEP Officers and four (4) MEP Non-Officers while for the IMO 6.09: Model Course for Instructors has six (6) MEP Officers and four (4) MEP Non-Officers. That said training was concluded last 03 December 2021.
