20 March 2022 – 109th Auxiliary Squadron and OB Montessori launched the second phase of “Trash to Trees Project” the tree-planting program with a total of 100 tree seedlings were planted at Sitio Malaking Bato, Brgy. Mabatang, Abucay, Bataan on 20 March 2022. CG VADM ROLANDO LIZOR N PUNZALAN JR together with personnel from Marine Environmental Protection Command (MEPCOM) and its sub-units from National Operation Center for Oil Pollution (NOCOP), MEP Training Center, MEPFORCE – NCR- CL, and Coast Guard Station-Bataan also took part in the said tree planting activity. The project initiative involves segregation, collection, and sale of recyclable materials, with proceeds going toward tree seedling purchases. Furthermore, this aims to reduce the amount of plastic and recyclables that end up in landfills, streams, and seas, as well as the rate at which our forests are depleted.
CG VADM PUNZALAN JR praised the effort and emphasized it as “a sublime program that shall be made part of the PCG and MEPCOM’s advocacy”.
